T’was the party before Christmas. T’was the party before Christmas when anticipation Helps Rotary forgo the usual dissipation. The joy of it all and the planning with care Cause the kids from Gardner Magnet school will all be there. The mood was set by John Dale’s musical gift As the songs of the season provided the lift. The children were nestled all happy in their chair In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there. When order was called by president Pat this afternoon We sprang from our seats throughout the room. As we stood we were prayed over by a Gardner student His prayer was short, heartfelt and prudent. “God bless America” was patriotically sung With gusto since we were impressing the young. President Pat began our musical tribute to Christmas By letting John Dale Smith get down to business. He was joined by 4 singers who on the stage came He laughed and called Heidi, Lisa, Brian and Mark by name To share their vocal talents singing popular Christmas song. What fun we all sometimes got to sing along Brian Taylor: “let it snow” and “Jingle bell rock” “Santa Clause is coming to town” by the quartet and all Heidi sang “All I want for Christmas is you” Followed by all: “Rudolph the red nose Reindeer” Lisa’s solo: “Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas” “Rocking around the Christmas Tree” and “Here comes Santa Claus” by all in voice Completed the musical extravaganza but not that eagerly awaited choice. A teaser by Santa over the loud speaker hyped the excitement And imagine the result of that incitement Because……..yep your wait is over because HEEEERE’S SANTA CLAUS The children (and Rotarians) greeted Santa with squeals of delight. With that jolly elf on stage the party just seemed right With many a word he went straight to his work Gathering up the toys he turned with a jerk This clause without pause handed each gift to a jaunty helper elf. Great, cause each elf ferried the toy to the recipient himself. Finally all is well with each child with his toys Knowing full well they were good girls and boys. Now Santa will spring to his sleigh and to his team give a whistle And till next year he’ll be gone like the down of a thistle. As for Rotarians, we know it was a happy Christmas for all And Santa knows where he’ll be next fall. |
