Jenn Dubey our chair of the month and day welcomed Rotarian John Collins to the podium following a long program of music and fun to which we are all accustomed but is amazing still. None of which should have been missed with the possible exception of the cuisine, consisting of cold breaded chicken and fried mystery fish. At least it was bland. John, a high intensity forty something, is a private entrepreneur having founded Critical Victories to showcase his remarkable skills and protein experiences as a forensic science consultant. He shared the solution of the Atlanta Centennial Olympic Park bombing utilizing the production characteristics of 6 penny nails. Eric Rudolph was brought to justice after a 5 year man hunt. Mr. Collins now has added coaching cognitive transformation to problem solvers emphasizing eliminating self-defeating habit and emotions. He coached us in his firm empirical belief in convivial communication to allow influential employees an opportunity for peak performance that will benefit all organizations. His next venue will be a daylong workshop 18 April at the MSU Henry Center. For those of us who covet “perfection under pressure” it’s not to be missed.

Special Music:

We were equally wowed by Rotarian Hari Kern, piano maven, and Richard Illman, trumpet(s) performing Gershwin, Aratunian, and Gave to the delight of all. Outside of the LSO, where Mr. Illman starred as the underwritten principal trumpet before retiring, you can’t do better than Ken Beachler’s special music Friday matinee. Thrilling.

Announcements:

President Brewster, having slipped past the protesters with Molotov cocktails, opened the meeting right on time. Todd Gute thanked the lord for our freedoms and promised to abide by his example. The Star Spangled Banner featuring our strolling pianist John Dale Smith and Richard Illman gave us to know we had nothing to dread. A 60 year member of the club today, Irv Nichols, bid us stay tuned for his report next week. Nick Heriford reminded all that the Grant Application has begun. Call Cathy. “Unknown Author” author Kevin Schumacher, my boss Editarian, after many clues finally got Dennis Fliehman to disabuse most of the club of the conviction that Jack Davis is the only member who ever wears a Tux. He correctly identified Rich Schaberg and went home with the M&Ms.

Next Week:

Lansing Center to hear Cindie Alwood, Executive Director of the Women’s Center of Greater Lansing.  It will be a report on some of the Foundation Grants that were dispersed this year.
